The neighbourhood centre Gottsunda Centrum in southwestern Uppsala faces large-scale renewal. NCM Donaldsons is responsible for development as commissioned by Uppsala Kommuns Fastighets AB (Uppsala's municipal real estate company) and a challenging and different marketplace is planned here. By increasing the commercial and cultural offering, making the offering of service clearer and also making the commercial offering varying, a natural commercial and meeting place is created.

The shop area at Gottsunda Centrum is to be increased by over 7,000 sq. m. to 24,500 sq. m. The offering will be augmented by elements of fashion, home and leisure, restaurants and activities in the area of health and wellbeing. To increase enjoyment of the centre, considerable investments are planned to be made in culture and infrastructure. A new entrance thoroughfare, an updated library, and upgraded swimming facility and a refurbished theatre will be added. Improved accessibility and increased security are to be achieved with a new access route and parking facility and by eliminating dark passages in the centre.
Remodelling and extension of the centre are estimated to begin during 2008, with completion during 2010. A first step in development has already been taken. Lidl will be establishing a new shop in Gottsunda which is expected to open during the second half of 2007.
